Covid 19. Tips to get you through the boredom

Updated: Nov 29, 2020

Now that we’re all spending a lot more time at home, you may well have started to notice jobs that need doing around the house which you’ve been overlooking or simply haven't got round to in a while.

1. Clean the fridge

Now that we have to keep our visits the supermarket to the minimum, it’s less likely you’ll be regularly topping up the fridge with smaller grocery shops. Next time you’ve run down your supplies and the shelves are looking bare, clean the fridge before your next big shop.

Pack any remaining food in a cool bag packed with freezer blocks, while you remove the salad crisper trays – if you can – and shelves. Clean these with warm water and washing-up liquid (let glass shelves reach room temperature first), rinse and allow to dry naturally. Use a solution and cold water or an antibacterial spray to wipe down the interior.

2. Wash cushions, cushion covers and spare room pillows

While none of us are entertaining guests, wash pillows and cushions to guard against dust mites. Remove pillow protectors and washable cushion covers and wash these according to the care instructions. For feather or down-filled machine washable cushion pads and pillows, use a non-bio detergent and tumble dry, as natural fillings are more likely to rot if left damp for too long. If your washing machine is big enough, launder mattress protectors and duvets while you’re at it.

3. Turn out the wardrobe

House moths and clothes moths like nothing better than hanging out in dark, undisturbed places. Make them feel less welcome by vacuuming moth hotspots like the bottom of wardrobes and underneath seldom-moved furniture. Take the opportunity to take clothes out of your wardrobe, sort them and air them, too.

We are closed until further notice to reduce any risk of spreading Corona Virus to our customers, but when things start to get back to normal, give us a ring and we'll help by giving your carpets & upholstery a deep clean and sanitise.

look after yourselves for now, and I hope to see you soon.
